Crop Mastery allows farmers to earn coins, experience or other rewards for harvesting large numbers of a particular crop. Crop mastery is unlocked upon reaching level 10, and will only work with crops planted after it is available to the farmer. There are 3 levels of crop mastery, each succeeding level requiring more plots of the crop to be harvested. The higher your mastery level, the better the rewards.

On April 12th 2010, for some crops the levels were adjusted which made most of them easier to master. This provoked some criticism, especially by players who had mastered crops with high number levels such as raspberries and blueberries.

Rewards Edit

Coins and Experience Edit

On increasing mastery level of a crop, a farmer receives a confirmation message, a mastery star and a reward of coins and experience. The farmer may also share a small coin bonus with friends via a wall post on Facebook. On fully mastering a crop (i.e, completing mastery of level 3), the farmer also receives a crop mastery sign.

Level Experience Coins Friend Bonus (Coins)
1 25 500 50
2 75 1,500 100
3 250 5,000 150

Upon mastery of the crop, level 3, you can receive extra XP from both premium crops and bushels. (see below)

Bushels Edit

Main article: Bushels You can receive more bushels and XP from the harvest of a crop using a bushel.

When you find a bushel of a crop you have mastered, you receive bonus bushels based on your level of crop mastery. For example, if you are harvesting a crop which you have not mastered, and you find a bushel, you get one bushel. If you are harvesting a crop which you have mastered to one star, and you find a bushel, your receive two bushels. If you are harvesting a crop which you have mastered to two stars, and you find a bushel, you receive three bushels, etc. This can make a big difference if you are trying to craft goods in one of the crafting cottages.

To earn mastery faster, you may use a bushel from your inventory before harvesting a crop to receive a mastery bonus. For example, if you have at least one bushel of cranberries in your inventory and you select "Use Bushel" before you harvest a crop of cranberries, you will receive 1 extra mastery point per plot when harvesting. Note that this removes one bushel from your inventory. Also note that you will likely find more bushels of cranberries as you harvest, however you will not be able to store more than your inventory will allow. For instance, if your inventory contains 92 bushels for all crops combined after using one cranberry bushel for the mastery bonus, then it won't matter how many bushels you find, you will only be able to store 8, which will take you to the limit of 100 bushels that can be stored at any one time. (Note: The bushel cap has been raised to allow a farmer to store up to 400 bushels on any given period, however, instances have occured where farmers were allowed to store up to 401 bushels.)

Farmville occasionally offers double mastery bonus periods, using a bushel mastery bonus in combination with a double mastery bonus will, in essence, result in a 3x mastery per plot harvested. For example, harvesting one plot of cranberries using a bushel mastery bonus during a double mastery bonus weekend will result in earning 3 mastery points (as if you had harvested 3 plots instead of 1).

Using bushels of limited edition crops after the crops have been removed from the market is another way to earn more time to master the crop. It will add the crop back into the market for a limited time and allow you to plant unlimited quantities for 2 hours.

Market Stall Edit

Main article: Market Stall

When your Market Stall first opens, your neighbors have 24 hours to collect bushels from you. This time is extended by 8 hours for each level of Mastery that you have for that Stall’s crop; for example, a Market Stall offering Strawberry Bushels from a farmer who has reached Level 2 Mastery will remain open for 40 hours (24 + 8 + 8 = 40).

Tips Edit

  • Crop Mastery is not retroactive. Only crops that are planted after a farmer unlocks this feature will count towards crop mastery. Any crops planted before the release of the feature will not count towards crop mastery.
  • Mastery points are only awarded when harvesting crops. Plowing/Planting does not award crop mastery points.
  • Crop mastery is tracked in the market.
  • The values in the Harvest Time Total column are in "plot-hours", for if you use one Plot and replant immediately after growth is complete, using the FarmVille "23 hour day". Adjust accordingly.
  • With the recent changes to the requirements of mastering certain crops, some players have found themselves with too many crops (i.e. 1645/1500), but have yet to receive their mastery sign. To finish mastering the crop, a player needs only to plant and harvest one more crop of that type. Upon harvesting that one crop, the mastery is acknowledged and a mastery sign will then be awarded.
  • Use bushels before harvesting to receive a boost to mastery points (+1 per plot) or if the crop is mastered, XP (+1 per plot).
  • During Double Mastery Weekend, if you use a bushel, it gives you 3 mastery per plot.

  • Why is there not a list of crops and their masteries for the English Countryside farm? All others are listed.

  • I sold a number of mastery signs before the billboard became available. Can I recover those sold signs somehow? Get duplicates?

  • i'm planting strawberries and the harvests towards the mastery star 1 is not going up, what is wrong??

    • If you're planting, then harvesting correctly, I'd write to Zynga and ask them - it may be a problem in the proramming.

  • The million coin question: I have eleven pages of mastery signs in my gift box. I know that they are just decoration, and achievements of my work on the farms. What I don't know is if I sold the signs, would it hurt my masteries that I have so far?

  • Does anyone have a list of the crops that are NOT needed for the crafting projects including the cove restaurant, tiki, and is it the sweet shop, etc.? I would like to delete them so I have more space to store the useful ones.

  • When you get a 3-star mastery on something do you have to keep ! of the item or can you get rid of them to make more room for other ones? I have alot of trees that I have mastered and just want to know if I can get rid of those.

  • Wondering if anyone can answer the following : In unlocking the super crops (regardless of the farm involved), I have already mastered the "regular" crops (i.e. Peanut for Super Peanut, etc.). However, when I try to ask for friends to "approve" the "Locked" super crops, I am not able to do this. When I try, it first takes me to a screen where I am allowed to choose the friends to ask for help, after which I am taken to a blank screen with a red "X" in a small box in the upper left corner. Any ideas as to how this can be fixed ?

    • I have found that if you have already sent your maximum amount of requests for the day (gifts inclusive) then it does not allow to ask for help, try and see if you can do it before ask or sending any gifts to see if that will fix it, if not send an email to the Tech Support.

  • Wondering if anyone can answer the following : In the greenhouse, I am not able to make anymore Red Spinach seeds (even though I have already mastered both Spinach and Rhubarb), or Lilac Daffy seeds (again, with both Lilac and Daffodils mastered). Anyone have any idea why ?

    • If you have not already mastered Red Spinach or Lilac Daffy then I would suggest you send an email to Zynga Tech Support Team as they have an issue fix for you.

  • Why isn't there information for both the England farm-crop mastery and Lighthouse farm crop mastery, set into table form?

    • As far as making the table is concerned, I don't want to mess with wiki formatting for tables. Each wiki is a little different, when it comes to tables. I have all information written down, but I don't have time to mess with adding at least part of this information to your page.

    • Because every time I try to add the spreadsheet, the administrator deletes it!!! :(

  • does anyone have lighthouse cove crop mastery numbers yet? ive searched and desrched. How come the English crops are not listed either??? i also cannot find the 6 newest super crop mastery numbers. This guide you have here is like my farm bible. I printed it off and highlight the ones i have signs for. It also helps so much, to prevent over planting. Thanks and happy farming!

    • The only super crop mastery numbers I know are for the Super Peas. Level 1: 1800 Level 2: 5400 Level 3: 10800 Total: 18000 I've updated the page and as I find out the totals, I'll update the page.

  • How many apple trees do I need to harvest to get a apple wood bushel?

    • I stand to be corrected, but I think it is a random number, not a set amount that you have to harvest, if you continue to harvest apple trees (see http://farmville.wikia.com/wiki/Apple_Wood_Basket for the full list) some or other time you will get a apple wood basket. Also, if your Crafting Silo is full, you can not receive any baskets, use or share a few other baskets from your Crafting Silo to make room for the apple wood basket. Hope it helps :)

  • thanks a lot for this :)

  • I'm a little confused about this mastery thing. So when I harvest a mastered crop I can get xp? Is the same true for trees. I understand I get xp bonus for achieving mastery, my question more deals with the afterwards- and I really would like to know about the benefits to mastering trees.

    • You can get XP for harvesting a mastered crop ONLY if you use a bushel, or have fertilizer used on those crops. I am not sure for trees, though, I was wondering the same thing myself. I don't think you can get XP for harvesting mastered trees as trees don't give XP at all, except for when they're bought, but that's just my guess, I wouldn't know for sure.

  • Does anyone know anything about the King Edward potatoes? I see that some people have them, as they are available in the Farmer's Market. However, I cannot find the seeds anywhere.

    • The Cara Potatoes are the King Edward Potatoes, they just re-named them for awhile, but then changed them back I guess, I'm not sure why

  • Hey everyone, just a question, is anyone else experiencing trouble unlocking seeds in English Countryside farm to plant in Home farm? I know how to unlock it, but when I go to home farm to try and plant, the seed shows up in the market saying "Locked: You need to be in England to use this. You need to unlock England to use plant this seed" <- something along those lines... any suggestions?

  • where are the english crops?

  • does anyone know what level of melon juice to get 1st mastery sign?

  • i am mastered in peas ,but i can not receive extra xp while harvesting the peas

  • also Cotton and Leeks are coming in wrong manner when the list is sorted using Harvest hours Cotton is now 12 hours crop, instead of 3 days and leeks is now 16 hours, instead of 2 days

Please anyone update the mastery table to date

  • Is there a crop mastery list for the English Countryside too? I can't find it at the moment.

  • I started playing after the walnut tree, fig tree and a few others were no longer available. Are these trees coming back someday?

    • maybe.. sometime they appear in mystery game, or from present site (right now there are four or five different giftable trees inside). sometime you can grow them from a seedling your friends are posting to their walls. =)

    • Fig Tree was available for a limited time yesterday, and the Walnut Tree is in the Free Gifts section

    • on some occasions they were (most likely will as well) be available in the market, free gifts section, mystery gifts, etc. the trees themselves will be unavailable, if you want a 'second level' tree (for example a Yellow Passionfruit tree), you can try to harvest your orchards, if you place the 'level one' tree that makes the saplings for the tree you want (for example the Passionfruit Tree), in them.

  • Did the hybrid crop totals change?

  • Fire and ice rose is missing. I tried to write it in the table but i can't add a row to it.

  • If I plant a crop using a bushel without unlocking it yet (say, Electric Lilies), will I be able to start mastering it?

    • Yes if the crop is locked (normal ones anyways - not the hybrid or cupid corns), the bushel will unlock it and you can master the crop (say electric lilies) at normal mastery rates +1 - you don't get to use the bushel to get a mastery bonus.

But in the case of the heirloom crops, you have to master all the required crops first - for electric lilies there are six I believe. If those aren't mastered yet, it still won't unlock.

    • NO to industrial farmer. if you use a bushel - you unlok the crop and do not need to master the crops it is usually asking.... one thing: you need to master it then by yourself- you can not activate a bushel then for mastering it double--> so it will be more slowly.

  • Your hybrid totals & at least your golden poppy totals are wrong
