The They Of Mystery ribbon was added to FarmVille on December 29th, 2009. Farmers can earn this ribbon by opening Mystery Boxes or playing Mystery Game.

Ribbon Details Edit

The ribbon is earned by opening various numbers of mystery boxes purchased at the market for 16 Farm Cash apiece. Mystery gifts sent by friends, mystery eggs obtained from chicken coops, and special mystery eggs obtained from the Spring Event do not count toward this ribbon. Harvest Surprise boxes from the Thanksgiving Event (2010) do count toward this ribbon.

&nbsp Many users have been critcizing about this ribbon for two main reasons:^[1]

Mystery Boxes purchased before the ribbon was created do not count towards the ribbon, causing some users to complain that the money they had previously spent on Mystery Boxes had been wasted.

To earn this ribbon, a farmer must spend real money (to buy FarmVille cash) because the 30 Mystery Boxes required cost a total of 480 FarmVille Cash. If a user bought all 30 of the the Mystery Boxes for the blue ribbon with real money, it would cost about $80 USD. This places the ribbon well outside the reach of many users. No other ribbon requires that the user pay for Farm Cash.

However:

Zynga made it so that some event mystery gifts (like the redeemable Thanksgiving and Christmas boxes) now count towards getting the ribbons.
The American Express Mystery Box released on 10 May,2011 also contributed towards the ribbon.

Mystery Egg Glitch Edit

Briefly (April 30-May 1, 2010) a glitch in the system caused Mystery Eggs to count toward this ribbon. However, this glitch has since been fixed, and now only Mystery Boxes, Winter Whimsy, Harvest Surprise, and the Capital One Gift count toward the ribbon.

I don't get the logic that this is unfair to anyone. If I spend money to get the ribbon, its unfair to me to pay $80 USD??? Is it unfair to you because I spent my own money? Oh! Its unfair to YOU because you don't have the money to spend on FarmVille cash? << Who is keeping you from earning or spending the money after you earn it? Its not FarmVille who does this. They have no control over your money.

I can not believe grown ups really complain about a game!!! So what if u can't earn the stupid ribbon unless u pay money. I do believe that there should be a way of earning ALL items with either FV or coins. I sure as hell am not going to make a complaint about it!!! Some people have WAY too much time on their hands....I love Farmville when I have time to play. I got tired of it for a while...then I left for a bit and when I came back it was really awesome...it can be a bit addicting so I have to be aware of the amount of time I spend on it or I will need to start a Farmville Anonymous!!! LOL I bet I would have quite a following....especially for those that spend money on this game. For me...it is all about how awesome I can make my farm look without having to spend any money!!!

Fudging stop complaining already, ecspecially about "discrimination"...
People who CAN spend money on the game should have an added benefit in addition to the items they get and that is a ribbon to show it off.
If you can't spend money on FV then that is cool, no one says you HAVE to, but those who do sponsor the game get an added reward unavailable to others. I say it's only right.
Now please stop your complaining, no one is forcing you to play the game or having you spend money on it. One less ribbon for you then, boo hoo!

Thinks this Ribbon should be removed now that they've changed it... I used to be able to have my friends send me Mystery Boxes as a gift but since they changed it to the Mystery Game they can't do that anymore!

Mystery darts DO count towards this ribbon, but there was a temporary bug I think.
I have currently collected the yellow and white ribbon this way.

I for one am spending real money so it's only justified that I do get the ribbon and you don't. It's a way of sponsoring Zynga for allowing us to play their game and more importantly them updating their game for FREE!
